Basketball Recap: Alvin Yellowjackets vs. Pearland Oilers

The Alvin Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight defeat. They lost to Pearland on the road by a decisive 67-50 margin. While losing is never fun, Alvin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 802nd, while the Oilers are ranked 210th).

When it comes to explaining why Alvin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elijah Mckinzy. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Cao, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Alvin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. As for Pearland, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-12.

Alvin will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sharks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shadow Creek is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 18 games. As for Pearland, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dawson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Oilers like a good challenge.
