Softball Recap: Old Orchard Beach Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Old Orchard Beach nor Buckfield made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Seagulls fell just short of the Bucks by a score of 4-2. The Seagulls haven't had much luck with the Bucks recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Hannah Webber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Old Orchard Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Corinne Androkitis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Old Orchard Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Buckfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Old Orchard Beach will head out to take on York at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Buckfield, they will challenge Temple Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
