Basketball Recap: Bunn Wildcats vs. Vance County Vipers
Bunn lost against Vance County back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bunn Wildcats fell to the Vance County Vipers 63-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DJ Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 steals. Smith has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Kearney, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals.
Even though they lost, Bunn was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.
Tyshawn Alston went supernova for Vance County, shooting 4-for-4 from long range and dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. That's the most boards Alston has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Harold Timberlake, IV, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds.
Bunn's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Vance County, their record now sits at 3-6.
Bunn didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-56 victory against J.F. Webb on the 30th. As for Vance County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-56 defeat against Corinth Holders on the 28th.
