Preview: Halifax Academy Vikings vs. Pungo Christian Academy Raiders
The Halifax Academy Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Halifax Academy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Halifax Academy came up short against Harrells Christian Academy and fell 50-41.
Despite their loss, Halifax Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Karson Ricks, who scored 12 points along with five assists and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Hayden Barlow, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Pungo Christian Academy also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Lawrence Academy by a score of 40-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pungo Christian Academy in their matchups with Lawrence Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Halifax Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Pungo Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
Halifax Academy came up short against Pungo Christian Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 44-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pungo Christian Academy's Ginny Pugh, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
