Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes a Loss

If Mt. Vernon was riding high fresh off their 5-0 takedown of Robinson on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes who were credited with the victory on Saturday. The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Mt. Vernon Rams' three. Mt. Vernon were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Teutopolis apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Teutopolis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will venture away from home to challenge Centralia at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Teutopolis, they will head out to square off against Altamont at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Teutopolis will be up against Altamont's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.14 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
