Basketball Recap: Coronado Dons vs. Yuma Criminals
Coronado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt an 86-27 loss at the hands of the Yuma Criminals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Criminals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-55 back in January.
Yuma's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elmer Emerson, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Those 26 points gave Emerson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Amador, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten assists.
Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Yuma, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Coronado didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-57 victory against Desert Sunrise on the 11th. As for Yuma, they have also already played their next matchup, a 77-73 loss against Cortez on the 12th.
