Basketball Recap: Kelly Comes Up Short

Kelly had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles by a score of 64-62 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since December 3, 2024.

Westwood Baptist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Robbie Dodd led the charge by shooting 54% from the field to rack up 21 points. Dodd continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cody VanDover, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Westwood Baptist Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kelly will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Charleston at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they will take on Senath-Hornersville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
