Basketball Recap: Gann Academy Comes Up Short

It was fun while it lasted, but Gann Academy's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Tuesday. They took a 70-55 bruising from the Berwick Academy Bulldogs. The loss was the Red Heifers' first of the season.

Leading Berwick Academy to victory were Noah Daniel and Brandon Ventura. Daniel went 11 for 20 on his way to 30 points in addition to six assists and six boards, while Ventura dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Daniel has scored at least a third of Berwick Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Purington, who almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and nine assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gann Academy fell to 3-1. As for Berwick Academy, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gann Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bancroft at 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Berwick Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Austin Prep at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
