Schoharie and Mekeel Christian Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2016, but not for long. The Storm will take on the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Schoharie will be strutting in after a victory while Mekeel Christian Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Schoharie took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Middleburgh 3-0. The Storm have beaten the Knights the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Schoharie was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-11, 25-13.
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Mekeel Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to Fonda-Fultonville.
Mekeel Christian Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fonda-Fultonville work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 24-26, 25-15, 25-23.
Schoharie will have to contain Bria Salvo as she made an impact in Mekeel Christian Academy's last game. She had ten digs, six aces, and one block. Salvo is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Paige Brennan, who had ten kills, eight digs, and three aces.
Mekeel Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 18-4-1. As for Schoharie, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
Schoharie skirted past Mekeel Christian Academy 3-2 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
