The St. Bernard Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in St. Bernard's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.
On Wednesday, St. Bernard got the win against New Roads by a conclusive 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Juan Sandoval was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lennex Minor, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Swinson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
St. Bernard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Roads only managed six hits.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary nor Bosco Tech made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cardinals took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.
Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elias Vigil, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
St. Bernard's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Bernard has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Bernard might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary when the teams last played back in May of 2016. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
