Basketball Recap: Sioux County Takes a Loss

Sioux County played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Arthur County Wolves, falling 58-26. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now lost six in a row.

Josh Perez and Logan Monroe certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Perez posted eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals, while Monroe scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Gilberto Hernandez, who earned no points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Sioux County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arthur County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talan Storer, who went 8-for-16 en route to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Storer a new career-high. Julien Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Sioux County's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Arthur County, their record is now 5-11.

Looking ahead, Sioux County will face off against Crawford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arthur County, they have already played their next contest, a 59-54 win against Potter-Dix on the 14th.
