Football Game Preview: Southridge Spartans vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders

The Southridge Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southridge's offense hasn't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Monday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Everglades a 7-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 32-6 win. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Raiders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Eagles are ranked 83rd).

Southridge's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.6 points on average over those games. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.
