Basketball Recap: Crossroads Christian Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Crossroads Christian had won six straight games and Ely Phillips did his part to make it seven on Thursday. The Colts breezed past the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots to the tune of 80-44 with plenty of help from Phillips, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.6% field goal percentage.

The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Watkins, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 20 points and three steals. Watkins is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Crossroads Christian's record now sits at 9-1. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Coming up, Crossroads Christian and Greenfield will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The Colts will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Freedom Christian Academy and Wake Prep Academy will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' defense better be ready for this one: the Guardians have averaged an impressive 61.7 points per game this season.
