Basketball Recap: Courtney Griffith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southern Guilford over Eastern Guilford

Southern Guilford lost against Eastern Guilford back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Southern Guilford Storm took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Guilford Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Storm have lost by exactly 11 points.

Southern Guilford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Courtney Griffith, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Griffith has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Slaughter, who scored ten points and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Southern Guilford and nudges their season record down to 3-12. As for Eastern Guilford, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season.

Southern Guilford has already played their next match, a 56-36 defeat against Dudley on the 15th. As for Eastern Guilford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-39 victory against Atkins on the 15th.
