Basketball Recap: Westlake Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Westlake Academy came into Friday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 57-47 victory over the UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES on Friday. The Blacksmiths have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the EAGLES, too.

Several EAGLES players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Lupton, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points. Jayce Lopez was another key player, putting up seven points and seven boards.

Westlake Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for UME Preparatory Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Westlake Academy will venture away from home to face off against Texas Wind at 1:15 p.m. on Friday. As for UME Preparatory Academy, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES challenge the ILTexas Arlington Eagles on Tuesday. UME Preparatory Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.
