Softball Game Preview: Cony Rams vs. Gardiner Tigers

Cony hasn't had much luck against Gardiner recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Cony's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Gardiner's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Cony came up short against Lawrence and fell 8-4. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Gardiner also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Erskine Academy by a score of 6-3.

MOLLY TAKATSU was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. TAKATSU was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

TAKATSU wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was SOPHIA MARRONE, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. ZOEY EPPERSON also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cony's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Gardiner, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
