Baseball Game Preview: Meridian Wildcats vs. Pearl Pirates

For the second straight game, Meridian will face off against Pearl. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meridian has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Meridian lost 15-2 to Pearl on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meridian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malachi Atterberry, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Atterberry is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 4-15 when he doesn't).

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Pearl, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-15 record.
