Baseball Game Preview: Avella Eagles vs. Carmichaels Mighty Mikes

For the second straight game, Avella will face off against Carmichaels. The Eagles will square off against the Mighty Mikes at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Avella is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Carmichaels hit Avella with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell 7-3 to the Mighty Mikes.

For Carmichaels' part, Scottie Maskil was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Maskil has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Maskil wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Ankrom, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Ankrom has posted since back in March. Brayden Andrews was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Avella's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Carmichaels, they moved to 6-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
