Recap: Smoky Mountain Mustangs vs. Swain County Maroon Devils
The Smoky Mountain Mustangs's three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They secured a 50-44 W over Swain County. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Smoky Mountain also won the last time the pair played last Tuesday.
Smoky Mountain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayritzis Chinea, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Chinea pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Voss, who scored 12 points.
Smoky Mountain's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Swain County, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Smoky Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Pisgah at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Pisgah presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Smoky Mountain in North Carolina (Pisgah is ranked 99th, while Smoky Mountain is ranked 308th). As for Swain County, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Owen at 6:30 p.m.
