Recap: La Grange Leopards vs. Taylor Ducks
After a string of three wins, the La Grange Leopards's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 68-45 loss at the hands of Taylor. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for La Grange in their matchups with Taylor: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Leopards players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Campbell Cooper, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Cooper's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Homer, who scored seven points.
Taylor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kionayh Rivers led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds. Asia Zachary was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
La Grange's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Taylor, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
La Grange and Edna will round out the year against one another at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday at. One thing working in Edna's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. Taylor will finish 2023 at home by hosting Burton at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th. Burton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
