Basketball Recap: Reed-Custer Comes Up Short

Reed-Custer lost against Wilmington two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Comets fell 36-28 to the Wildcats. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 9-2 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Reed-Custer lost, don't look at Alyssa Wollenzien. Despite the final result, she posted 19 points and seven steals. The game was Wollenzien's third in a row with at least 19 points. Harlie Liebermann also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Sami Liaromatis was the offensive standout of the contest as she went 7-for-10 en route to 16 points along with five boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in field goal percentage (70%). Another player making a difference was Keeley Walsh, who scored eight points and ten rebounds.

Reed-Custer's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Wilmington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
