Softball Game Preview: Copper Hills Grizzlies vs. Riverton Silverwolves

Copper Hills hasn't had much luck against Riverton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Grizzlies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. Copper Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Copper Hills nor Mountain Ridge made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Grizzlies came up short against the Sentinels, falling 10-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Grizzlies couldn't push the score so high this time.

Copper Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clarissa Hotton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Riverton faced Herriman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Silverwolves fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5. That makes it the first time this season the Silverwolves have let down their home crowd.

Maggie Hamblin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Baylee Martinez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Copper Hills, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Copper Hills has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
