Basketball Recap: Joselin Valenzuela's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santa Cruz Valley over Tempe Prep

Santa Cruz Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Tempe Prep Knights, falling 50-25. The Dust Devils lost against the Knights in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 41-38 score last time.

Several Dust Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joselin Valenzuela, who posted eight points.

Santa Cruz Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Tempe Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-13 record this season.

Santa Cruz Valley has already played their next contest, a 63-27 loss against Veritas Prep on the 3rd. As for Tempe Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 84-20 defeat against Phoenix Country Day on the 3rd.
