Softball Game Preview: Roy Royals vs. Bountiful RedHawks

The Roy Royals will head out on the road to square off against the Bountiful RedHawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight losses, while Bountiful will come in with five straight wins.

Roy fell victim to Morgan and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 15-0 to the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Bountiful got the win against Woods Cross on Friday by a conclusive 16-3. That looming 16-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the RedHawks yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Isabeau Hoff, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Yates, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Bountiful hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive games.

Bountiful pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Roy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Roy suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Bountiful when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Roy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
