Preview: Fayette Ware Wildcats vs. Cordova Wolves
The Fayette Ware Wildcats are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Cordova Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on November 30th. One thing working in Fayette Ware's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Fayette Ware has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season. They really took it to Covington for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-42 victory on the road.
Fayette Ware got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Jones out in front who scored 16 points along with 5 assists. The matchup was Jones' third in a row with at least ten points. Tarecous Stevens was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 5 steals.
Meanwhile, Cordova put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 76-46 win over St. Benedict at Auburndale at home. Given Cordova's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while St. Benedict at Auburndale is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Fayette Ware to 5-0 and Covington to 1-2.
Fayette Ware couldn't quite finish off Cordova when the teams last played back in November of 2022 and fell 69-66. Can Fayette Ware avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
