Volleyball Recap: Southwest Trojans vs. Hurley Tigers

Southwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hurley Tigers. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Southwest still got an impressive performance from Olivia Hnem, who had 13 digs and two aces. Hnem is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

Even though they lost, Southwest was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last 19 matches.

Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 6-23-2. As for Hurley, their record is now 6-7-1.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Galena the next time they take the court. Hurley will head out to face Galena at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Southwest will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
