Baseball Game Preview: Northridge Raiders vs. Concord Minutemen

Northridge has gone 8-2 against Concord recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Minutemen at 5:30 p.m. Northridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Friday just wasn't the day for Northridge's offense. They fell just short of NorthWood by a score of 2-0 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Northridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brecken Gawthrop, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Gawthrop has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Luke Mann was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Concord lost a heartbreaker to South Bend Adams when they met back in May of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Saturday. The Minutemen fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-6. The Minutemen have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Mark Herman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Kridler, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Northridge, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Northridge skirted past Concord 4-3 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
