Softball Recap: Avery County Takes a Loss

Avery County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-0 to the Owen Warhorses. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warhorses this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in March.

Avery County's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Owen, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avery County will take on University School at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.17 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Owen, they will challenge Mitchell at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mountaineers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something the Warhorses will no doubt try to take advantage of.
