Softball Recap: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Carrollton Trojans
Columbus proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Carrollton Trojans. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 9-6 defeat the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2023.
Jayla Lockhart was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Bagsby, who went 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBI.
Columbus lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're home run total in three consecutive matches.
Columbus' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Carrollton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Columbus will host Woodward Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Carrollton, they will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Paulding County at 5:30 p.m.
