Basketball Recap: Elysian Fields Takes a Loss

Elysian Fields entered their game against Beckville on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Yellowjackets fell 60-56 to the Bearcats. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 54-38 to the Bearcats when the teams met back in January of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Beckville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jorden Prince led the charge by dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Prince now owns an excellent 45.8% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Bullock, who posted 17 points.

Elysian Fields' defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Beckville, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Elysian Fields will take on rival Gary at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Beckville is set to square off against their familiar foe Tenaha at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
