Maumee barely beat Southview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Cougars 17-3 on Monday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Hannah Ruiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Ruiz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maumee got a massive performance out of Reign Hurt, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles Hurt has posted since back in April of 2024. Brynn Maier was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI.
Maumee pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Southview, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Maumee and Southview are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Maumee surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southview, they will be playing at home against Ross at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
