Basketball Preview: Milford Central Wildcats vs. Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats
The Milford Central Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Milford Central has seven straight wins, the Wildcats have seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Milford Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Sharon Springs Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-19 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Milford Central has managed all season.
Milford Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Lawson out in front who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Lawson is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Carter Stevens was another key contributor, dropping a triple-double on ten points, ten assists, and ten steals.
Meanwhile, Hunter-Tannersville took a serious blow against the Eagles last Wednesday, falling 71-29. Hunter-Tannersville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.
Milford Central is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Hunter-Tannersville, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
