Football Recap: Cranston West Drops Season-High Score on South Kingstown + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cranston West). They walked away with a 45-34 victory over the South Kingstown Rebels on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cranston West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mehkhai Taylor, who rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Those 155 rushing yards gave Taylor a new career-high. Jon Leroux was another key signal caller, throwing for 292 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

Cranston West didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Kingstown to a completion percentage of just 35%. Given Leroux's standout performance, it's clear the Rebels' secondary just wasn't on the same level.

The win made it two in a row for Cranston West and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games. As for South Kingstown, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cranston West will welcome Barrington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for South Kingstown, they will take on East Providence at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
