Baseball Recap: North Comes Up Short

North lost to El Segundo back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Saxons fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Saxons have lost by just one run.

North got a good showing from Joseph Banuelos, who struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Banuelos a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Josiah Reed and Sei Nagashima stepped up to the plate in a big way. Reed went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles, while Nagashima went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Nagashima is becoming a predictor of North's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

North now has a losing record of 10-11. As for El Segundo, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

While North had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
