Basketball Game Preview: Hillcrest Panthers vs. Adamson Leopards

Hillcrest is 4-0 against Adamson since December of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hillcrest Panthers will be playing at home against the Adamson Leopards at 8:00 p.m. Hillcrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Hillcrest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-46 to White. The Panthers have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Hillcrest got top-tier performance from Saivon Johnson, who posted 21 points and six boards. Johnson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jacoby Ogbonna was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Adamson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-55 heartbreaker at the hands of Sunset. One positive for the Leopards, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Adamson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Everything came up roses for Hillcrest against Adamson when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 103-16 victory. Will Hillcrest repeat their success, or does Adamson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
