Basketball Recap: Summit Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Draper APA Eagles 72-20. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-6.

Summit Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kita Holmes, who posted 12 points. Sydney Orme was another key player, putting up six points.

Draper APA was led to victory by Samantha Kartchner and Aaliyah Baldwin. Kartchner dropped a double-double on 27 points and 19 boards, while Baldwin almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Kartchner is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Bailey Bluth, who put up eight points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Summit Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Draper APA, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit Academy will venture away from home to square off against Juan Diego Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for Draper APA, they are taking a road trip to take on Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th.
