Baseball Recap: Princeton Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Princeton took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Vincennes Lincoln, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Alices a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Not much got past David Miller, who gave up just three hits to keep Vincennes Lincoln off the board. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Princeton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drake Cox, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

Princeton pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vincennes Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Princeton will venture away from home to challenge South Spencer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.08 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Vincennes Lincoln, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Evansville Memorial at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Alices 2.7, the Tigers 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
