Basketball Recap: Cardozo Comes Up Short

Cardozo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Banneker Bulldogs 64-16. The Clerks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in January.

Banneker got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Baughns out in front who posted eight points along with ten steals and six boards. Baughns is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Rainelle McNeil was another key player, going 5 for 7 on her way to 13 points and five assists.

Cardozo's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Banneker, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Cardozo will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Woodson at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Banneker also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Maret at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
