Basketball Game Preview: New Foundations vs. Kohelet Yeshiva

New Foundations will take on Kohelet Yeshiva in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

New Foundations is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Girard College: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went New Foundations' way against Girard College on Tuesday as New Foundations made off with a 56-30 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given New Foundations' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Girard College is ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Kohelet Yeshiva got the win against Kimberton Waldorf on Wednesday by a conclusive 58-38. With that win, Kohelet Yeshiva brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.

New Foundations better keep an eye on Chezky Levitt. He was instrumental in Kohelet Yeshiva's win, putting up 26 points and seven rebounds. Levitt's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nevo Anaki, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

New Foundations' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Kohelet Yeshiva, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

New Foundations was able to grind out a solid victory over Kohelet Yeshiva when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 60-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Foundations since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
