Football Recap: Pitman Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Pitman was not quite Downey's equal in the second half on Friday. They were outmatched by the Knights and fell 28-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Pride were not able to get on the board.

Downey's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elias Haynes, who rushed for 230 yards and one TD while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Haynes is now averaging an impressive 117.4 rushing yards per game. Bryant Mendes was another key rusher, rushing for 116 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Pitman's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Downey, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Pitman will face off against Turlock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Downey, they will take on Modesto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.71 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
