Basketball Game Preview: Oxford Academy Patriots vs. California Academy of Math & Science Coyotes

The Oxford Academy Patriots will take on the California Academy of Math & Science Coyotes in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Oxford Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They strolled past Godinez Fundamental with points to spare, taking the game 67-51. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, California Academy of Math & Science had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with a 64-55 victory over the Wolves.

California Academy of Math & Science pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Oxford Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Oxford Academy came up short against California Academy of Math & Science in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 65-58. Can Oxford Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
