Basketball Game Preview: Iola Bulldogs vs. Mumford Mustangs

Iola is 0-10 against Mumford since December of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Iola Bulldogs will take on the Mumford Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Iola is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Bremond, falling 62-34. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mumford unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hearne. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 15-3 in the first quarter.

Iola's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Mumford, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 17-9.

Iola might still be hurting after the 62-40 defeat they got from Mumford in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Iola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
