Baseball Recap: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Las Lomas Knights

Mt. Diablo extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They lost 25-2 to the Las Lomas Knights. The Red Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in May of 2017.

Mt. Diablo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dairo Valecillos, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for Las Lomas, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Las Lomas' side, Tyler Van Deusen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Van Deusen a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Las Lomas let Cubby Hairston and Jack Foscalina run wild. Hairston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Foscalina went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Las Lomas is 4-0-1 when Foscalina posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-8 otherwise. Christo Georgiou also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

While Mt. Diablo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
