Softball Recap: Thornton Academy Wins Going Away Against Falmouth

Thornton Academy got themselves on the board against Falmouth on Thursday, but Falmouth never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Navigators. Considering the Trojans have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Miya Mcintosh was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Barnes was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Thornton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Thornton Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Falmouth, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Thornton Academy will take on rival Bonny Eagle at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Falmouth is set to square off against their familiar foe Noble at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
