Baseball Recap: Kennedy Comes Up Short

Newark Memorial hit Kennedy with a five-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ocean Chiu put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Maximo Shaw was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has become a key player for Kennedy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-11 otherwise.
