Basketball Recap: Rai Lacy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ball over Friendswood

Ball was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 53-35 fall against the Friendswood Mustangs. The Tornadoes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 64-55.

Ball's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rai Lacy, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalyn Toussaint, who posted ten points and seven assists.

Ball's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Friendswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Ball and Friendswood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Ball will take on Texas City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 738 places (522 vs. 1260). Ball is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Friendswood (ranked 266th) will meet Santa Fe (ranked 598th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
