Recap: Lincoln Lancers vs. Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs
After flying high against the Arrupe Jesuit Generals last Saturday, the Lincoln Lancers came back down to earth. Lincoln lost to Pueblo Centennial on the road by a decisive 49-34 margin on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lincoln has scored all season.
Lincoln's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adeshina Alassani, who scored five points along with 15 rebounds and two steals. Alassani has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Aaron Villarreal was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pueblo Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shon West, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. West hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jackson Jacobs, who scored six points along with three steals.
Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Pueblo Centennial, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln's road trip will continue as they head out to face Thomas Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Pueblo Centennial, they will face off against Pueblo County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Pueblo County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
