It was a proper cat-fight when Sulphur Springs faced off against Greenville on Tuesday. The Wildcats blew past the Lions 3-0. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests in a row.

While Sulphur Springs won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-18.

Rainey Johnson paced Sulphur Springs' offense, picking up 15 kills. Johnson got some help from Harper Hodges and her 28 assists. Johnson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sophie Schaack, racking up two apiece.

Greenville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lyric Jacobs, who had 16 digs and one assist, and Gali Lazoda, who had five digs and two aces. Lazoda is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Carlee Tippit also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Sulphur Springs' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Greenville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Sulphur Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Peaster on the 21st. As for Greenville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Grand Saline on the 21st.
