Baseball Game Preview: Gray Stone Day Knights vs. Jackson Day Mariners

The Gray Stone Day Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Jackson Day Mariners at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Gray Stone Day fell victim to South Stanly and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Rowdy Rebel Bulls, falling 8-0. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Jackson Day lost 17-2 to Langtree Charter Academy on Wednesday.

Jackson Day saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vermaine Shelton, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Shelton hit this season.

Jackson Day's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Gray Stone Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gray Stone Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game.
