Football Recap: Golden Valley Takes a Loss

Golden Valley had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 51-6 loss at the hands of the Merced Bears. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Golden Valley still got an impressive performance from Gab Richards, who rushed for 120 yards and one score on only 15 carries. Richards' longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards.

As for Merced, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Dougie Andrews produced another solid performance rushing for 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Cammarri Jackson, who rushed for 63 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Golden Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 20-19 win against Buhach Colony on the 10th. As for Merced, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 37-21 victory against Los Banos on the 10th.
